August 2018 Eroge Releases

August 1, 2018 at 12:01 am 6 comments

I was a bit worried that there wouldn’t be enough games to make a post for August, but luckily there were some delays. Laplacian’s Mirai Radio to Jinkoubato is the most promising title this month, but I’ll probably enjoy being a teddy bear in KATE’s Koi wa Mofumofu! Love Me Teddy. It’s best to spend this time clearing your backlog, reading C94 doujins, or going out for some fresh air.

I don’t know if I should feel happy or sad for such a month. On the plus side there isn’t much bad one could say about it as there isn’t much at all period. On the other hand however there is little good to say about it also as well there’s once again nothing there. Either way I can at least be glad for a month that was easy to write for.

Butterfly Seeker ~Chaos Nightmare~

Company: シルキーズプラス A5和牛 (SILKY’s PLUS A5 Wagyu)
Game site: バタフライシーカー ~カオス・ナイトメア~
Release date: August 31, 2018
Comments:
This is the fandisc for Butterfly Seeker. Spring has arrived in Shiori, but the chill and thin fog of winter still lingered. It seemed like that a similar invisible spring haze had invaded the Mushikui room. Even since the dependable senpai Chitose had graduated, no new members had joined and as a result of a lack of personnel, they had not received any new cases. It was quite the change from their busy time last year.

Then one day, they were tasked with solving a new case. As they performed their investigations, they noticed a mysterious young girl who slid in and out of the shadows…

I didn’t play the original game, so I don’t think I’ll do the same here.

Fandisk, for a game which like Micchi, I never played and thus am not too thrilled about the prospect of seconds.

Iincho-kai no Anti-Hero ~IINCHO-Re.co~

Company: シアン (Chien)
Game site: 委員界の異端者 ~IINCHO-Re.co~
Release date: August 31, 2018
Comments:
It was Kurou’s first day at his new school. So why was he standing in the middle of a burning building, wearing a blonde wig, a gas mask and a black leather gauntlet on his right hand? No matter how you look at it, he’s simply a freak.

“Don’t just stand there! Hurry and get over here! You’re gonna die if you don’t!”

He ran towards the shouts after initially flinching at the barked command, surrounded by shrieks and cheers. One could barely hear a voice say quietly:

“… this is the beginning of the long-awaited ‘reboot’…!”

Everything at Kairei Gakuen is decided by the student council. Kurou was caught in a strange explosion incident on his first day at school and was tasked with seeking out the truth. During the day, he’s a normal student, but at night he becomes the mysterious hero Kamen Kanser. He is charmed by the six heroines that he meets as he dashes in the darkness, and he gradually learns about the truth and the mastermind behind everything.

Chien’s latest title is actually a remake of their 2006 title Iincho wa Shounin Sezu!, with some returning characters and updated graphics. You don’t have to read the previous game since so much has changed that you can pretty much consider it a totally different game. It seems there’s a lot of protagonists leading double lives. Maybe every seemingly normal person you meet in real life are actually deviants!?

I am forced to ponder whether anyone finds this genuinely interesting. Please do tell if so as I may be completely misunderstanding the demographic if that is the case. Personally I just cannot find myself caring about something so lazily put together. Not only is there no reason for the setting to be a high school, the protagonist feels awkwardly random and silly, the heroines pointless, and the story well just plain stupid.

Mirai Radio to Jinkoubato

Company: Laplacian
Game site: 未来ラジオと人工鳩
Release date: August 31, 2018
Comments:
Sunday, July 10, 2061. Nariyama, Chiba, Japan.

Sora was able to put a radio back together with spare parts that he found lying around. It’s been 15 years to the day since the artificial pigeons started to eat radio waves, severing the existing communications network. He started a broadcast using the transceiver passed on to him by his father, and received a strange broadcast the very next day.

“… This is a follow-up report about the Oozora plane crash on August 1st. The name of the deceased found at the former Terminal 1 site is Yamanashi Sora. Injuries were also reported at the Nariyama Aeuronautics Academy.”

It was a broadcast from the future.

“I’m… going to die in three weeks…?”

After hearing the broadcast, Sora stepped into the ruins of Nariyama Airport Terminal 1 for the first time in fifteen years. It was once the main entrance to Japan for international travellers. It was also the place where he had lost his parents. Now countless artificial pigeons nest in the decrepit building, which is a shell of its former self.

There he met a silver-haired girl Kaguya, who looked straight at him while petting an artificial pigeon that rested on her finger, and said:

“… You’re not going to die.”

He was dumbfounded at her assertion, as she continued quietly.

“Because that’s what I’ve decided. Because I want to see you smile when you look up at the sky.”

This is one of the more intriguing plots that I’ve seen this year, and the trial was decently long (until the accident) and captivating. All the lewd jokes (courtesy of imouto Mizuki) may not be for everyone, but the story still moves along pretty well. There’s a lot of mysteries and questions to be answered at the end of the trial, which sets up nicely for the full game. Laplacian’s previous title Newton to Ringo no Ki was pretty promising to begin with, but fell a bit short on the execution of the individual routes, so let’s see if they do a better job this time around.

I sort of want to like this one. Probably mostly due to there not really being much choice this month. It is to see an attempt at writing a story at least though. Not so confident in the writing holding it all together well though as the main concept of nonsense radio wave devouring sky rats and future radio stations are gimmicky at best. Essentially the plot comes down to your typical wish granting story where they make up some random mechanic for the setting that they can then justify solving through methods equally illogical. A story about meetings with various people and interesting individual characters with goals and hobbies would have been an improvement which was just as easy to write. Oh well, here’s hoping I’m pleasantly surprised for once.

Koi wa Mofumofu! Love Me Teddy

Company: KATE
Game site: 恋はもふもふ! ラブ・ミー・テディ
Release date: August 31, 2018
Comments:
New release date after being pushed back from July. This is the first title by KATE, a sub-brand of MORE. On the last day of a study tour to a rural hot spring town, Shunsuke rashly decided to peep at the women’s bath. However, it was a mysterious bath which had been closed to men since the olden times and he was immediately turned into a teddy bear by some strange power. He still hadn’t yet realized what had happened when his classmate Arisu entered the bath.

He was in a panic, thinking that he had been found out, but he looked just like a teddy bear. Arisu took interest in him and took him home with her. Thus began his life together with her, but being a teddy bear wasn’t his only problem. If he got an erection from sexual excitement, he would temporarily return to his human form (and naked at that)!

You’re a fucking teddy bear!

Yes, yes you certainly are that.

Eh, it’s the first time I saw Micchi’s list shorter than Zen’s… anyway, time to clear some backlogs…

The original Butterfly Seeker wasn’t terribly bad; it’s actually on the good side if you had to ask me. (feel free to read my short review for it if you’re even remotely interested in the fandisc)

Does at least look like there are a couple games despite a small month that I’d want to check out. July has given me so much backlog time so it’s about time I stock it up again!

Hi there again, also wanted to mention that “Sono Hana ga Saitara, Mata Boku wa Kimi ni Deau” has been delayed till September 28th.
Well, not much to say about this month… I’ll stick to my backlog.
    Sad but true. Whyyyyyyyyy

I'm no longer making any eroge posts nor actively updating the upcoming releases. Thanks for following the blog through all these years and hope that it has been helpful. Please continue to support the eroge industry and love your imoutos!
