June 2009 Eroge Releases

June is the perfect time to work on your backlog since there’s not really that many good games this month. Almost a third of the titles were pushed back from previous months. I had a tough time choosing the top 3 this time around as there’s nothing that really stands out. I’m quite interested in DanceｘMixer, even though it isn’t an eroge.

I agree about this month being just plain boring. None of the releases really stand out to me. I had a hard time just picking three I would be likely to play. Though I am pretty thankful for this month, Should enable me to completely finish off my backlog.

Fortune Summoners ~Arche no Seireiseki~ Deluxe

Fortune Summoners is an all-ages doujin single player side-scrolling action RPG that came out in 2007. It looks cute and fun and takes about 20-30 hours to finish. The deluxe version adds voices (including Tamura Yukari) as well as some extra game modes. I might fool around with this… haven’t button-mashed in a while. The video is the CM for the original version.

Well I am not a fan of 2d side scrolling in general. The game itself is obviously cute and appealing to a young female demographic. Not my cup of tea though on the bright side this will give fat guys who are into cute little girls something to cosplay as besides sailor moon.

You forgot about about Cardcaptor Sakura. Wait. Ew.

Himesama wa Princess

This is WHEEL’s first game. First of all, I have to say the subtitle “Showing panty… it is a glory of the macrocosm” is the most hilarious thing I’ve seen in a while. It seems that showing their panties is a sign of royalty and they’re all fighting for a ‘holy jewel’ that they think Mamoru has. It’s pretty obvious that this will be a title with lots of fanservice. Just look at all the ass-shots on the cover… It’s so… round…

Since this month is dull I will probably give this a shot at some point just for the comedy. Looks like it will be lighthearted and funny. The star wars parody of the op made me chuckle as does the entire premise.  Good game to read in between serious stories for a bit of lighthearted fun.

Nidozaki! Tartlette

I like the idea for this game. Akito came back from France after studying as a patissier and finds the sweet shop Juugatsuzakura in disrepair, lacking customers and running a loss. He vows that he will bring back those golden times for the shop. The game is based around cooking and running the shop. It’s quite similar to the PS2 game Curry House CoCo Ichibanya, which was a lot of fun.

Games and well stories in general along these lines make me sad in regards to the culinary failure that is my life. My own misgivings aside I do think this may be a relatively interesting title compared to a lot of the other games this month. To the point I might play it. Looks like it has a good mix of comedy along with a solid if not spectacular story concept.

So what do you make after you’ve done side stories and after stories? Make back stories of course! Since I’m a devote DC fan, I’m definitely going to get this one since it has stories about Mahiru and Yume’s past. Too bad there’s no Nanaka though. I like the OP a lot.

The DC cow has officially run out of milk. Circus needs a new title to milk and fast.

That would be Princess Party and Valkyrie Complex. They’ve already got Princess Garden and DCV lined up.

Dance×Mixer

This isn’t an eroge, but an Idolm@ster-esque dance performance choreography simulation game. You get to choose the song, model the character and outfits, customize the stage and set dance moves, lighting and camera work. Then, the game allows you to export it to an avi file. The game costs almost 16000 yen, so it’s probably huge in size. I really like the PV “Koi no Time Machine” and ended up watching it at least 10 times. I wonder just how much customizability it allows. Definitely checking this out.

Another cute magic school eroge with the guy being a new transfer student. There’s something ‘off’ about the art… I think it’s the shape of the eyes. Kohaku’s imouto Hinana seems to be omochikaeri material. I wouldn’t mind trying it out, but it’s not at the top of my list. That being said, it’s still somehow #3 this month…

Gives off a very bland feel. No really remarkable aspects that make me want to play it. I have to agree with Micchi about the art being generally a little off though. Good month for a game like this to come out. With little competition I feel more apathetic towards it being mundane.

Stellar☆Theater

New release date after being pushed back from May. Rosebleu’s debut work is about girls with the power of the zodiac. For some reason, I can’t seem to get interested in this.

This will end up on my list for this month. I am actually pretty interested in this game. The premise reminds me a little too much of fruits basket… which would be boring to tears. I think that there is some potential here for a good story though so I want to give it a shot.

Kurukuru Coeur

This is AXIS’s first game. I finally figured out the title! This is a gender-switching eroge where everyone has a male and female side. Lots of comedy and H scenes. The art and the website are quite unpolished, so I’m not expecting much in terms of storyline. Yuki’s girl side is cute.

Seems like a rather funny concept. Another light hearted type of game apparently. I may pick this one up in between other titles as a bit of lighthearted fun along the lines of Pantsu.

Sakura Sakura

Well I will bet on Tiara. Reason being Cross Days was not pushed back to July thus they probably think it may take more than a month. As far as Sakura…  I no longer even want that game to come out. It is infinitely funnier to watch the delays and laugh at them.

Reincarnation☆Shinsengumi!

New release date after being pushed back from May. Hiromi is chased by monsters after meeting mysterious girl Kiku. Then they are saved by a group of magic girls. Afterwards, his twin sister, who has the same name and should have been dead, appears before him. As usual from Libre, the character design is extremely loli. I am wary of this brand due to the bad storytelling in Niiduma Capriccio!.

Follow-up for Sumaga, which I didn’t play. The OP is creative and refreshing though, as is the game site.

Ya know…. despite the fact I realize the implications of my saying this… I did not like Sumaga all that much. In fact I got completely stuck while reading it. I absolutely abhor the very existence of uhh Mira..? Well whatever her name was, the silly blond offends me in every way possible to the point I pine for digital homicide. Sooo If I somehow manage to curb my loathing long enough to get through mira and finish Sumaga I will play this.

It’s been a while since I’ve seen a Ciel release or a work illustrated by Tony. The tennis theme appeals to me. Twin-tailed imouto Mio looks like a character I’d enjoy (and she reminds me of Kana from Minami-ke). Art is impressive as always. OP song could use some work. YouTube has been removing the OP, so I’ve included the CM instead.

This definitely does have very good artwork which interests me. On the other hand the whole tennis theme not so much. Despite my misgivings on the subject matter I am interested enough to give this game a shot. To me the OP song was well… average. Most OP songs are pretty boring for me and I skip them the majority of the time. Plot wise though I see nothing special about this title so not really interested at all.

A game about a demon princess Himeka who gets saved by Akito and ends up living with him, stirring up jealousy in his friend Koharu. The plot isn’t as intriguing as I hoped it to be, although the OP was decent. Koyomi reminds me of Nodoka from Negima.

This is number 1 on my list for this month. Pretty good OP that really caught my attention. Plus I am a bit of a sucker for demon girls. I agree completely with Micchi about the story being tried and true to the point of it feeling like groundhog day. Hopefully this will deliver in areas other than story concept to make up for it.

Admit it, you just like horny girls.

At least they are not my little sisters.
