December 2018 Eroge Releases

December 16, 2018 at 1:08 pm 11 comments

It’s the last month of the year and it seems like most companies have already stopped working since there’s only a handful of games coming out. However, Uguisu Kagura’s Sora ni Kizanda Parallelogram and Libido Soft’s Hinekuremono no Gakuen Seishun Monogatari ~Ore to Kanojo no Reversible~ are decent choices for drama and comedy, respectively, so there should be games to keep you entertained when you’re tired of being festive and a riajuu.

As bad as it feels to say this, I kind of prefer a month of really bad releases. I’m not saying this month isn’t bad, just it’s boring bad. The absolute worst kind of bad is the type that inspires apathy. Which has sadly become much more common as the vast majority of eroge are mostly copy paste jobs with minor changes to avoid the teacher calling them out on cheating.

NekoNeko Fan Disc 4

Company: ねこねこソフト (NekoNekoSoft)
Game site: ねこねこファンディスク4
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
As the name suggests, this is the fourth fandisc from NekoNekoSoft, covering Ruri no Kasane, Ramune 2, Sumire, and Owaru Sekai to Birthday. It also has a crossover short story, and the mandatory mahjong mini game with 140 characters. Their FDs are usually quite simplistic, so just don’t expect more than what’s listed.

Fandisks.

Nemureru Sono no Shoujo-tachi

Company: かえるそふと (Kaeru Soft)
Game site: ネムれる園の少女たち
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
This is the debut work for Kaeru Soft. Takashi is your typical guy who loves ero, but he’s quite negative and unpopular. In a bid to be popular and get to have lots of sex, he performed a ritual to summon a succubus. However, something went wrong during the summoning and his classmates Rumi and Shino were inflicted with an ecchi curse and the summoned Nemu could not use her powers. Will he be able to fully enjoy his newfound life of perversion in the month before Nemu has to go back?

It uses the E-mote system for the H scenes. That’s something I haven’t heard of in a while. Well, it’s a nukige with art by Tanuki Soft’s Nonohara Miki. You probably already know if you want it or not.

Aside from being offended by loli succubi in general not much to say that Micchi hasn’t already. If this is the kind of game you like one glance at the cover is enough to notice.

Sora ni Kizanda Parallelogram

Company: ウグイスカグラ (Uguisu Kagura)
Game site: 空に刻んだパラレログラム
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
Yuzu was fascinated with terpischora ever since she saw a splendid match unfold before her eyes for the first time. Unable to forget that moment, she transferred to Kuzukiri Gakuen to learn how to fly in the sky. There she met Ayumu, a former competitor whose career was cut short by injury, and he guided her into the world of terpischora. They worked hard together with his imouto Hari, osananajimi Ria and senpai Hotaru’s mutual encouragement and support. Striving to be the best while going through the highs and lows, they grow through the sport and learn for what or whom they decided to fly.

This pretty much sounds like Aokana, except the presentation style and underlying themes are different. Just like with Uguisu Kagura’s previous titles Kamimaho and Istoria there is more of a focus on the darker side of humanity and basically making you feel like shit. I also feel like Aokana explained and depicted the matches better; there’s something lacking in the battles here (probably the music and animation effects played a big part). The art style is not for everyone, but it’s still worth checking out… if you’re ready to have your heart broken.

Seems as though the majority of eroge with a similar theme always starts with a protagonist who had a life previously revolving around the sport, martial art, magic, or whatever else they throw into the story. Of course with an easy story centered around the heroines healing him with H scenes. Generally these types of stories are going to be lacking in overal character development and writing as they center on rather silly themes to an excessive degree. I don’t expect much from it to be honest.

Another thing to note is the art can look really weird from certain angles, especially the eyes. Something to note if that bothers you even if not as bad as Bootup. About half of the CGs sure made me cringe at least.

Kotonoha Maichiru Natsu no Koe

Company: シルキーズプラス DOLCE (SILKY’s PLUS DOLCE)
Game site: 言の葉舞い散る夏の風鈴(こえ)
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
Osamu was on his way to attend the opening ceremony at Sakuranomiya Gakuen when he heard a familiar voice. It was the super-popular voice actress Kokoro, who never shows her face, but he was able to tell due to his ability to identify anyone by their voice. Her real name was Kotoha and she was repeating her first year, just like him. Since he was her top fan, he was excited to spend his time at school with her while keeping her identity a secret between the two of them.

Then he was invited by Yuu, a first-year student who aspires to be a voice actress but gets nervous easily, to join the voice acting club. Together with the older Aoko and wheelchair-bound Kanade, a youthful love comedy where everyone is a first-year student (although three are repeaters) begins!

A seiyuu game with good seiyuus. I didn’t feel like the story nor writing stood out (much less than the previous Apeiria), although it was interesting to hear them intentionally do deadpan voices. Just a backlog title for me.

Just another voice actress game. Little more to it than that gimmicky hook to bite into.

Shukusei no Girlfriend 2

Company: mirai
Game site: 宿星のガールフレンド 2 -the destiny star of girlfriend-
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
This is the sequel to Shukusei no Girlfriend, and it is the second of three planned games. Seiji is an ordinary student who met a girl named Maja in the park. He was charmed by her demeanour, despite not knowing that she was actually a mahou shoujo that fights demons using dark magic via a contract with an evil deity. After a sudden appearance by some demons, he ended up as her familiar and gained the ability to use magic. In return, he was bound by a magical rope on his ankle to her, and if he strayed too far away from her, his magical power will run out and he will perish. So they ended up living together under the same roof. However, her slightly eccentric nature meant that unexpected incidents were a commonplace.

Man, Seiji has it tough. In the first game, he was attacked by demons and almost died. Now he’s turned into a familiar and at a risk of dying again. This eroge protagonist thing is dangerous. Maybe the next title with the seemingly safer Kanoko will be an easier time for him. These games focus on individual heroines and I’m not charmed by Maja the same way he is. Pass.

Better heroine than the last one but I remain allergic to magical girls so I wish this title to burn in a fire.

Hinekuremono no Gakuen Seishun Monogatari ~Ore to Kanojo no Reversible~

Company: りびどーそふと (Libido Soft)
Game site: 捻くれモノの学園青春物語~俺と彼女の裏表~
Release date: December 21, 2018
Comments:
Yuuichirou is a pessimistic guy who has practically no friends. He leads a life far from the dramatic ones depicted in manga and novels. However, even an anti-social person like him faced a crisis: his grades are awful and he won’t be able to move on without raising them. He was offered the opportunity to raise them in exchange for joining a certain club. It was a club full of boring, worthless, good-for-nothing students – the Seishun Club!

Oregairu, or should it be Erogairu? This is mainly a comedy, so I’ll treat it as such. Probably worth picking up for a laugh or two.

Though it is hardly a new concept to base an eroge on, the value of it will be decided entirely on if it makes you laugh. As long as the tone never stays too serious for too long and the pacing of the writing is good this may be the only title worth bothering to put even on a backlog this month.

Koi ni, Kanmi o Soete 2

Circle: Canvas+Garden
Game site: 恋ニ、甘味ヲソエテ 2
Release date: December 31, 2018 (Comiket 95)
Comments:
This is the continuation of CANVAS+GARDEN’s doujin title Koi ni, Kanmi o Soete, featuring after stories for Rira and Rishie and main routes for Ciel and Koron. They are also releasing a twin package version including the previous game. They’re cute, it’s cheaper and you’re supporting doujin work, so do try out the game!

As I did not play the first game I am uninterested. But if you happened to and enjoyed the process it will be nice to have an extra helping.

Man I thought we would get way more games than this at december. Is it just me or is eroge industry dying pretty fast at this rate? I mean I knew that things wasn’t good but we are getting 3-5 full priced games per a month at best nowadays, while last year we were getting at least x2 of this.

        Fret not, friend.

At least two high profile releases (new Favorite, new Minori) were just postponed to January.

I’ll probably be playing 言の葉舞い散る夏の風鈴, seeing as it’s the same writer as haretaka and sukisuki. I didn’t like the type of humor in Apeiria but it seems it’s less ridiculous and over the top this type, and I like the CV cast. Akino Hana and Haruka Sora need more main roles…

I like Uguisu Kagura but meh, bullying, power harassment, not very Christmasy. May down the road if it gets good reviews. For people looking forward to it now I’d recommend waiting a bit anyway, since the studio has a certain reputation of releasing games in a poor state (abundant mispells, error in sprites, etc…) that makes the reading experience worse than it should. To their credit they do patch them eventually.

I'm no longer making any eroge posts nor actively updating the upcoming releases. Thanks for following the blog through all these years and hope that it has been helpful. Please continue to support the eroge industry and love your imoutos!
