May 2009 Eroge Releases

Aside from highly anticipated Tenshin Ranman, Valkyrie Complex and fandisk Tayutama -It’s happy days-, May is high on quantity, but lower than average on quality. There seems to be a lot of action based eroge this month. As usual, Micchi and Zen will be your navigators for this preview. We’re posting this a few days early since the first games come out on the 1st.

Tsukumono ~Yadorigi Romance~

After popular SRPG Seinarukana, XUSE makes…  a “tentacle pure love” ADV. There’s this tentacle/snake thing coming out of Meguru’s ass and almost all the CGs involve tentacles. Definitely staying away from this one. I can’t even post the OP due to content.

This is just plain weird. I suppose if you really have a thing for tentacles this would be your game but I would not touch this with your eel.. tentacle… whatever the hell that is.

Rakugaki Over Heart

Another typical love comedy school life ADV, this time focusing on investigating graffiti that shows up around the school. The characters are cute and the main seiyuus are ones I’m familiar with (Sana in _summer, Kanade in Majisuki and Shuri in Koihime Musou). Looks to have plenty of comedy. Ai-chan is definitely cute ><

Same ole same old eroge. I suppose the graffiti is a bit new and interesting in some way but not enough to make me wonder what kind of amazing story it may have. Characters are definitely cute… but if its just cute characters almost every eroge has that. Pass.

Horizon no Ue ~Yogen no Sho~

This is Hecate’s first game. It’s basically about life at magical school Bibliotheca. I don’t like the OP nor the art. It seems too amateurish. And what’s with that seal/whale thing?

Interesting interpretation of seal clubbing. Not so interesting looking story. Other than that while I think the art is not all that bad I also cannot see much reason to want to play it.

Zettai Karen! Ojousama

A game based around otaku hobbies at a prim and proper all-girls school. Another game I won’t play purely because of the artwork.

I HAVE A BRILLIANT IDEA! LETS STICK OTAKUS INTO ALL MANNER OF SITUATIONS THEY NORMALLY WOULD NOT BE ASSOCIATED WITH! Seems to be the general idea behind stories like this. I do not know if it is to make an appeal towards similar interests of targeted demographics, or just to give people an unlikely situation to laugh at. I don’t mind them when done well, however this one looks a tad overdone with sub par artwork. Back to Akihabara with you.

AlterEgo

AlterEgo is a “sexy and stylish” SRPG with animated battles in 3D. The game takes place 5 years after Heliotrope (by sister company Hatena, released last month) and if you have both games installed, it will open up another character in the game. The battle system looks nice. While RPGs aren’t really my thing, Zen might like this one.

This does interest me, however a lot of that will depend on how good Heliotrope is. So I am definitely looking forward to this but I may end up ignoring it if Heliotrope is bad.

Stellar☆Theater

This is the first game by Rosebleu. It seems like the story is based around people who are named after the signs of the Zodiac and possess special powers, in addition to girls who are candidates to assume these positions. Among these candidates is an osananajimi who Daichi had thought he wouldn’t meet again. There sure is a long cast for this game, but the plot doesn’t strike me as anything too interesting.

Reverse fruits basket almost. I suppose that this may be a bit more interesting to me than your normal high school romance types but unless I run out of backlog I do not think I would spend the time to play it. Plus story seems likely to be fairly straightforward and boring.

I could become my own pretty pretty princess before this is released. Not that I want to become a princess… then again nor do I care about this being released or not.

A combination of GAR and moe with your fill of mahou senshi. The OP is decent. The game uses a system where you can choose to see the story from different perspectives at certain points. Is it just me or does there always seem to be an idol in these types of games…

I prefer a more grounded style to anything magical or fantasy based so not really my cup of tea. That said the system does interest me. Anything with combat and idols makes me think of Macross and that is one bitter door I hate being opened…

New release date after being pushed back from April. The OP song is cute… and that’s about the only thing good I can say about it.

Alas this cruise finished before it even started for me. Awkward artwork and lame plot we hardly knew ye.

New release date after being pushed back from April… 2008. Damn, it’s been 13 months. The sakura are all gone by May. Watch it be delayed again.

I am REALLY looking forward to this game… being delayed again. I am however interested in it just for the fact it has been delayed for so long. Whatever they have been perfecting had better make the game feel like drinking sakura petals in sake or I will be VERY disappointed.

Reincarnation☆Shinsengumi!

Loli mahou senshi, android and an imouto with the same name as main character, but who shows up even though she’s supposed to be dead. It looks really loli cute, but considering it’s Libre and their last work Niiduma Capriccio was an utter disaster story-wise, I’m wary about picking this one up.

This makes me feel a lot less guilty about Kururi from Flyable Heart. At the same time it makes me want to turn myself in to the nearest police station just from watching the OP. I will have to pass before my conscience pushes me to suicide.

If you’re looking for some non-loli mahou senshi, look no further than this sequel to one of C:drive’s previous titles. Art looks cleaner than their first one. Maybe Hemi-tan should pick this up. Oh wait, he’ll probably be playing Valkyrie Complex.

The cover alone makes me cringe.

This is the fandisk to Tayutama. As usual, Lump of Sugar makes great OPs. Their website is packed full of goodies. Mmm… Yumina…

This would be more interesting to me if I played Tayutama. Mashiro is cute, the end.

Valkyrie Complex

The more I look through the game site, the more excited I am for this game. I expect the game system to be a lot better than what it was in Eternal Fantasy. However, just from the character design and voices alone (a lot of same seiyuus from DCII), I want to play this game. It’d be nice to play a SRPG after so many ADVs.

Watch my team have no melee fighter except for Leo. I lay claim to Eris and Mapul. They are mine. No touchy. I want Mikoto too, but I’d probably have to fight through at least half a dozen of you…

This game looks pretty good. I think that despite my abhorrence towards anything involving effort I will actually play this game. While a lot of it looks fairly typical, the overall look and feel of the game itself makes me want to play it. Combine that with a month devoid of much else I really want to play and this one may be a winner.

You can have everyone and anyone you want as long as you leave me Kyrie. See that! I called dibs. HANDS OFF EVERYONE ELSE!

Hana to Otome ni Shukufuku o

This is the ensemble’s first game. Akira dresses up as a girl and attends an all-girl school in lieu of his sick twin imouto Tomoko. Luckily, he looks girly and she’s flat-chested. I have to admit that I like this type of story ever since CaramelBox’s OtoBoku. I’m happy with the OP and art, so I’ll play this if I have time.

I think every guy would love to be a trap in an all girls school. At least, in theory. For about five minutes. I may play this if I hear good things but it is not something I am really looking out for.

I am utterly frightened by Micchi’s infatuation with Sana. Therefore I will avoid further comments surrounded as I am by scary blue text obsessing over Sana.

Tenshin Ranman is YuzuSoft’s 4th product. Haruki is a hard-luck guy who one day meets a girl who calls herself a “kami” and vows to reverse his ill fortune. She moves in with Haruki and ends up causing trouble – what will happen now!? It’s all about bracon imouto Sana! The CGs are beautiful as always and it’s in widescreen HD! YuzuSoft banzai! >w<

It seems that in addition to the 4 heroines (Sakuya-hime, Ruri, Sana, Aoi), there’s also routes for 2 subcharacters (Mahiro, Yukari). I would’ve liked one for Honoka too… Anyways, they’ve also increased the H scenes for this game, up to at least 3 for each heroine. Of course, they’re all about pure love!

Wow, YuzuSoft went overboard on the animation this time around. Usually they only include a few animated scenes, but it felt like the main part of this OP. The dancing is cute and Ruri made me laugh XD Really catchy song and…

The protagonist is a shota that dressed up as a girl and ended up working for a princess that doesn’t like men. Actually the plot doesn’t matter much because this game is all about the ecchi. No thanks.

Hand bras are good in theory but difficult to make work in practice. While she obviously has a versatile level of support, it must be difficult to preform day to day tasks such as shota molestation. Lucky guy, after all being in that story means he will not read it. Ahh then again… neither will I.

This seems to be a sequel to their previous game of the same name. I’m not really sure what it’s about… looks like it has some D&D aspects. OP is nice.

Bad artwork draws me to stare at it jiiiiiii~~ Sequel, didn’t play the first, not really interested in the second.
