July 2018 Eroge Releases

It’s summer, the time to enjoy the hot springs (AkabeiSoft3’s Haru to Yuki,) or fulfill some promises with divine beings (Alumi Soft’s Wanko no Yomeiri ~Youkoso! Inu no Shippo e~). Nitro+’s newest offering, Minikui Mojika no Ko, shows the ugly side of people, while CLOCKUP’s Erewhon welcomes you to a mysterious crimson-hued world where you are viewed as a bringer of good luck. If you’re looking for something a little different, look no further than Qruppo’s Nukige Mitai na Shima ni Sundeiru Watashi wa Dou Surya Ii Desu ka?! Can you protect your chastity!?

The theme this month is apparently a trip to the rural countryside. A good chunk of the games backing out of the high school settings for a breath of fresh air feels refreshing even when they may not be stellar games to play. So here’s to a month celebrating summer with more than just swimsuits.

June 2018 Eroge Releases

Enjoy your summer by playing key’s Summer Pockets or just take it easy with your childhood friend in Argonaut’s Uchi no Kanojo. It seems like many protagonists lead double lives, including as a phantom thief in Confiture Soft’s Rhapsodic Holiday. For those looking for a game with a great seiyuu cast, look no further than ensemble’s Koi wa Sotto Saku Hana no You ni.

Like visiting an amusement park for the summer the month is filled with ups and downs. Wait, no that’s not quite right. The month is filled with downs and the occasional perfectly level plateau. So more mediocrity of varying degrees with some awkward and terrible thrown into the mix, so basically just another average month.

May 2018 Eroge Releases

You can feel that spring and magic are in the air. It’s the season when spirits offer to be your cupid, your childhood friend returns to live with you, and you stumble into a secret gathering of witches. Navel also makes their first non-Tsuriotsu game in a while (Kimi to Mezameru Ikutsu no Houhou) and Tinkle Position affirms its position as an imouto-ge specialist (Onii-chan, Asa Made Gyutte Shite!).

May is really not my month. Nothing much worth reading as there is little more than basic charage, and charage that try to cash in on a popular trend. A few games may be worth playing for their common routes, but don’t expect to be entertained for more than a few short hours.

April 2018 Eroge Releases

CIRCUS is still following the chara-ge template with their latest title, Tenpure!!. If you want something a bit more from another world, check out Palette’s sequel 9-nine- Sorairo Sorauta Soranooto or Liar-soft’s Shunkyoku no Tyrhhia ~What a beautiful dawn~. There’s also more SMEE hijinks in their fandisc Making*Lovers Geki Icha After Story Vol01!

Not a great month, but a month. A few choice eroge nuggets sandwiched between imouto and cat eared gimmicks.

March 2018 Eroge Releases

There is a trio of mysteries this month: La’cryma and Hiyoko Soft’s collaboration work Kieta Sekai to Tsuki to Shoujo, Azurite’s Akumade, Kore wa~ no Monogatari, and SILKY’s PLUS A5 Wagyu’s Butterfly Seeker. If you would like to sit back and relax instead, there’s Carol Works’ Natsuiro Ramune and PULLTOP’s all-ages Sora to Umi ga, Fureau Kanata. For me, I’m looking forward to the always entertaining ASa Project’s Karigurashi Ren’ai and YuzuSoft’s RIDDLE JOKER.

A trio of mysteries indeed, with the big mystery they all share being why no one can get the mystery game formula right despite it being so simple. Quantity will never compare to quality so if you enjoy actual mystery and not poorly written tripe like Higurashi then you get to cry tears of sadness and frustration this March. On the other hand if all you want are random deus ex plot twists and super powered crime solving children then boy is this the month for you. Rest of it is the usual eroge fare with our long running favorite charage makers Yuzusoft and Asa Project making appearances in what I can only assume is going to be the eroge equivalent of a chainsaw cage brawl to the death as they fight for their overlapping customers, aka: all of them.

January 2018 Eroge Releases

Welcome to another year of imoutos and fandiscs! I’ll be busy furthering my sibling skinship in MOONSTONE Cherry’s Imouto Paradise! 3 ~Onii-chan to 5-nin no Imouto no Sugo~ku! Ecchi Shimakuri na Mainichi~, enjoying a good nap in GIGA’s Soikano and playing with my pet in Lump of Sugar’s Yorite Konoha wa Kurenai ni. It’s like nothing has changed at all.

Sure the start of the year may have thrown us all into the hellish pit of lustful younger siblings but like Pandora’s box, there is still hope. Along with the deluge of unwanted mob midgets there are a few potential diamonds that either spurn the needy gremlins completely in favor of actual human companionship or downplay them as a necessary evil to appease the wallets of the Micchis out there. While we may not be off to a great start in 2018, it could be so much worse, so I’ll take what I can get. Happy New year everyone.

December 2017 Eroge Releases

Transport yourself to the turbulent late Edo period in Inre’s Bakumatsu Jinchuu Houkoku Resshiden MIBURO or the dark and bloody side of Tokyo’s Kabukicho in CLOCKUP’s Nemurenu Hitsuji to Kodoku na Ookami. If you want to stay at home and relax instead, be pampered by the waitresses in CANVAS+GARDEN’s Koi ni, Kanmi o Soete or enjoy the beach with pretty girls in hibiki works’ Natural Vacation. If you like blondes, there’s always SAGA PLANETS’ Kin-iro Loveriche.

Not the best nor worst month. I am a little hopeful towards Nemurenu Hitsuji to Kodoku no Ookami, while the rest I will be delighted should they manage to be amusing if rather mediocre. Still, whatever happened to tons of Christmas related games during December? Not that I ever played them mind you, but it just doesn’t feel the same without them.

November 2017 Eroge Releases

A little blue bird told me that this is the promised month. Purple Software’s much-anticipated Aoi Tori comes out this month, following their success with Amatsutsumi last year. SMEE is back with their antics in Making*Lovers, while CRYSTALiA debuts with the sword-wielding Kizuna Kirameku Koi Iroha. If you just want to be a lucky sukebe, look no further than AkabeiSoft3’s Maho×Roba -Witches spiritual home-.

Your bluebird makes me want to play Duck Hunt. At the very least I’ll be laughing at anyone who likes or was looking forward to those annoying birds this month. The rest of the month is the usual mixed bag with an overall quality that is higher than the norm lately. Since I’m American I’ll be giving thanks for a decent enough month that there are some games I actually want to play.

October 2017 Eroge Releases

GIGA’s BALDR series comes to an end with BALDR BRINGER, while HARUKAZE moves on with its sequel Nora to Oujo to Noraneko Heart 2 -Nora, Princess, and Crying Cat.-. Mysteries abound in Azarashi Soft Zero’s debut title Yami to Hikari no Sanctuary, whereas Curefull Base goes with the comedic route with its first game Tsugihagi Make Peace -pretending×friendship-.

Other than sequels and fandisks for games you may like there is not much to see this month. Those not relying on an existing game to cash in on a fanbase are lackluster to say the least. In fact the best one can hope for this month is a completely median experience. As an American I’ll be thankful should November be an improvement.

September 2017 Eroge Releases

It took a long time, but Haikuo Soft’s Omokage Railback is finally coming out. Over that same period, CIRCUS have already released two fandiscs, including this month’s D.C.III Dream Days, where some familiar faces from D.C.II make a re-appearance. Innocent Grey’s FLOWERS series comes to an end, while two chara-ges wrap up the month: Parasol’s Sakura Hitohira Koi Moyou and Enishi Soft’s Oni ga Kuru. ~Ane ga Hinshi de Pinchi Desu~.

I’ll believe it was finally released when Railback is installed and working. Also never compare Circus releases. They can just copy paste their games over and over with a few extra lines added, hardly fair to give them credit for that. This month is not bad for once. Sure many of the games are mediocre. Others are downright terrible. But the ratio isn’t bad. There are a few worth playing, a few that may not be good but probably aren’t too bad either, aside from delays on the post not a bad month.
