The official site for SMEE’s fandisk Dousei LoverAble is up! I didn’t think they could make Kaho even better, but… long live twintails!!

New titles announced this week include the following:

ensembleOtome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas
Rose Liese – Strawberry Feels
sugar potTsukumono Tsuki (February 24th)

Amakan and Ima mo Itsuka mo Faruna Luna have been set for November 25th.

A patch for Reona after story is up on the Damamuko site.

Steins;Gate is now available on the iPhone/iPad for ¥3000, while many other titles are out for Android phones, including Tasogare no Sinsemilla. There’s also a browser game and iPhone app coming out this winter for Cosmic Break‘s Crimrose, titled Cosmic Angel.

The third drama CD for Oretsuba is now on shelves for ¥3000. Art books by Yuyi (Meteor) and Mitsuki Mantarou (Escu:de) are coming out, as well as the Axanael perfect graphics fan book.

The latest Manaiku 1/8 scale figure is Karin sniper ver., scheduled for this December at ¥7140. Also coming soon is The Idolm@ster‘s Iori Ryuuguu Komachi ver. (February, ¥8190). I love her beret so much >< For those that want something a bit more risqué, how about a meido Tama-nee?

All you ever needed to know about oppai.

Dakimakuras are coming out for Tsuyokiss3‘s NagomiKicking Horse Rhapsody‘s IzuhoNemuhana‘s Youko and practically everyone from Sakura no Sora to, Kimi no Koto.

Proclaim your love for imoutos with an Aya or Hiyori onahole… or maybe a Sora-themed laptop.

I’ve been trying out some trials, notably SuGirly WishSucreHare Tokidoki Otenki-ame and your diarySucre has surprised me with its slightly more mature feel. The setting and characters are both well done, although I thought that tsundere-chan felt a bit out of place. Hina’s urusai level is almost on Chinami level, but I can’t say no to any imouto with a built-in oniichan radar. Same with Nazuna, even though I keep on having visions of Mashifoni‘s Sana in my head…

Playing erogè on a phone, how they’re able to do it in public I wonder…lol

I’m not even sure the games are ero. There seems to be no mention whether it is or not.

I tried playing the Android games, and it was a pretty bad experience. Apparently all the games from that company are streamed. There’s a fairly significant delay whenever it needs to download a new image and maybe even the script, since it paused to download for me once when there was no change in the image. There’s also no voices… so it’s basically complete shit.

Are you serious? that is pretty freaking awful

Dont worry technology will get better. I can see the future me playing eroge on a phone XD

      • 5. Reikon  |  August 30, 2011 at 4:12 am

I highly doubt it’s a technology problem. Phones can do much more advanced stuff than displaying a picture and playing a sound file.

The streaming part is probably to counter piracy since it’ll be hard to get all the content and distribute it.

The lack of voices is probably due to costs. They cost less than 1000 yen, so licensing voices probably would be too much, or maybe the cheap phone version would cut into the PC sales.

Ooh and both Hareten and your diary are awesome play! They’re very simple stories with Simple characters but effective for that small goal they set to achieve. I should do a write up.

S-S-Sora-themed laptop?! When do pre-orders stop?! Only available in Japan?!?! No!!!! I must find a way to get this laptop >:O Thanks for the info Micchi!

They only accept orders from within Japan. So you need to use a proxy to order for you.

    Needs more おー Hina.

Although, an imouto that comes close to Chinami’s level intrigues me.

    Cosmic angel…*shakes head*.

Intrigued in SuGirlyWish now: that expression of Hina, complete with the little finger lift…:Q

That new Axanael artbook just made me more interested in the game…

Also, that oppai book… Must. Have.

Hey Micchi, do you think it’s worth starting to learn Japanese now only to be able to play eroge? The industry won’t just die by the time I can read properly, or will it? I can only spend 2 hours a day on it so it will take quite some time.

I have only played the translated stuff up until now and a handful of games via translators. I really dig the lighthearted comedy games with a moderate amount of drama like Da Capo I+II for example. Not so much the whole Nitro+, Akabei Soft2 and serious business games.
Which one has the bigger fraction of all eroge? The first or second type? And what type of games are the most popular in terms of sales? It’s probably a good indicator for what type of game will have a decent supply even in the years to come.
I basically want to confirm that there are enough people with the same preferences.

      Hi there munyu!

If you are interested in learning Japanese, go right on ahead! Don’t worry about the state of the industry as there are many existing titles that are available for you to play.

Excluding the nukige and dark games (which comprise the majority of eroge), romance comedies are more prevalent than more serious and deeper story titles. It’s difficult to say which is more popular in terms of sales as they cater to slightly different audiences, but usually it’s more an issue of who the company producing it is. Big name companies like key will almost always get more sales than start-ups.

Industries don’t just die overnight or even in the span of a few years. If you’re mostly into lighthearted comedy games, the amount of grammar and vocabulary you need to learn isn’t too high, so you can probably make do even with limited knowledge. Just start learning the basics, read more to motivate yourself and build your knowledge base and enjoy ^^

Late reply but better late than never!

munyu I wrote this article way back last year and for some reason it’s still the most popular post on my blog. I hope it will be helpful to you.

Teaches you how to read visual novel by reading visual novels. It says 2 years in the guide but actually it only takes 1 year to get to reading speed for the basic light-hearted romance comedies.

  • 15. munyu  |  September 9, 2011 at 10:17 am

Thanks for the replies you two.
Then I will just get to it and ignore my illogical worries. But still, this (http://visualnovelaer.files.wordpress.com/2011/09/up82500.png?w=640&h=408) is not very reassuring…and I expected Rewrite to sell far more, too.
I’m just so anal about spending time on it, because there is also the option of spending it on an additional course or seminar. You probably shouldn’t think of merits and investments when it concerns a hobby though…

Aeru, I think I’m going to do the grammar before starting on the kanji for real. Knowing 2k kanji and not being able to form a grammatically correct sentence would be kind of…sad.
    Thanks for the guide!

Oh well, I will just keep visiting your blogs and adding stuff to my backlog I can’t even read while learning.
By the way, did a mob of raging loli imoutos eat Zen’s pet dog or why else does he harbour such contempt for anything moe?
