Tokyo International Anime Fair Boycotts

December 13, 2010 at 12:21 am 5 comments

Kadokawa, Kodansha, Shogakukan, Shueisha and 6 other publishers have announced that they will boycott the upcoming Tokyo International Anime Fair in March 2011 in response to a proposed bill in Tokyo that would require the industry to self-regulate itself so that sexual offenses are not shown in positive light. This is an amendment to the current Youth Healthy Development Ordinance which already prevents the sale of ‘harmful’ publications to those under 18. It will not affect live action and novels. Their concern is that the wording of the bill is too vague and may severely impact the future development of the anime and manga culture. In addition, they were not consulted at all and the bill was revealed very close to the deadline for the assembly, so it seemed that Governor Ishihara seeked to sneak it through without notifying any affected parties. I really wish that politicians would focus on more important stuff than this. Haven’t we learned from the big fuss about eroge censorship last summer?

AXIS has revealed their 3rd title, Kyuukyoku Mahou Shoujo Zettai☆Aneki, which looks ever so slightly better than their previous yellow seifuku debacle.

Yuyi’s cute artwork makes a return to Meteor in Marguerite Sphere on March 25th. Clochette’s Kamikaze☆Explorer! will be out on May 27th.

SystemSoft Alpha’s Moe Moe Taisensou Gendaiban has been delayed to February 26th.

Caitsith updated its website for the first time since 2007. Is Youkai Restaurant their revival title?

Kana topped the Onigokko! chara poll. Clochette has started up the chara poll for Kamikaze☆Explorer!, which ends December 16th. Definitely voting for the imouto Manami. There’s a poll for a new chara for Ouka Sengoku. Does this mean that it’ll be getting a console port? Well, Sanada Yukimura is leading, which isn’t surprising.

Two doujin games coming out at C79 are Yumemisou’s Oshiete Little Vampire and Sweet Lovin”s Akuma to Shoujo to Daimondai II!? (a quiz adventure game). Aisu looks like an Ayu clone!

Caramel Box’s Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru 2 ~Futari no Elder~ is getting an anime adaptation! More info to follow on the main site soon.

TECH GIAN/Enterbrain has a super prelude book for August’s upcoming Aiyoku no Eustia. This 64 page full color book comes out on December 24th with details about characters, settings and has a staff interview. Included with the DVD are a trial, BGMs, a high quality version of the OP and wallpapers. On the topic of August games, Kadokawa is publishing the official visual guide for Fortune Arterial -Akai Yakusoku- on February 25th.

The upcoming Feb2011 issue of Dengeki G’s magazine will include a different cover for the 3rd volume of the Oreimo manga. Instead of Ayase, you can have Kuroneko in her casual clothes (from the Comiket episode). Looks nice, but I’m not going to buy the magazine just for this.

The Black★Rock Shooter Phenomenon official book coming out on December 14th focuses on the OVA, with info about related merchandise.

The OP single for key’s upcoming title Rewrite, “Philosophyz”, goes on store shelves on January 28th. The ED will also be included. Tinkle-illustrated loli basketball light novel RO-KYU-BU! gets a drama CD (2 CDs) this April.

Official sites for Mashiroiro Symphony *mutsu-no-hana (COMFORT, PSP) and Phantom Breaker (5pb., Xbox360) are now up! GIGA has announced that Sakaagari Hurricane is getting a console port.

GSC/Max Factory is rewarding Danny Choo’s advertising by making a figma of his mascot, Mirai. DC followers, it’s out in June at 2800 yen. Other Max Factory figmas announced this week are Nanoha StrikerS‘s Caro (March) and Bakemonogatari‘s Hitagi (April).

GSC is releasing a nice 1/8 scale figure of Angel Beats!‘s Yuri in April at 5800 yen. There’s also a Tenshi figure to be revealed shortly.

The premium figure of the Haruhi movie’s Yuki will be only available via Nyan Type Vol.14. Ordering will be available for 8100 yen until December 27th with shipping in April. I personally don’t care much for her, but fans will have to put in some extra effort to get her.

Other 1/8 scale figures announced this week are:

ALTER – Dizzy (Guilty Gear XX, April, ¥12,390)
Amie-Grand – Cure Pine (PreCure!, only at Treasure Festa 4, ¥10,000)
Griffon – Yukari (Touhou, March, ¥8800)
Kotobukiya – Hinagiku on-the-stage (Hayate, April, ¥6090)

Megahouse – Cure Sunshine (PreCure!, April, ¥6300)
WAVE – Azusa swimsuit ver. (Idolm@ster, June, ¥3990)
WAVE – Haruka swimsuit ver. (Idolm@ster, May, ¥3990)

COSPA’s latest dakimakura are Kaminomi‘s Ayumi and Elsie. Priced at 9450 yen (smooth) and 8400 yen (twill).

There’s a Prinny hat at Nipponichi’s C79 booth! I want one!

The visualstyle calendar 2011 has Kisaragi Gold★Star‘s Saya in Rewrite‘s seifuku on the cover and illustrations from different games every month.

Meet Silverlight Taiwan mascot Hikari’s sisters. They’re all cute >w<b

Milky Holmes is probably crazy enough without these alternative OP lyrics.

Finished reading Papa no Iu Koto v4 last week. It was about the return of Miu’s mother, Sasha. I think the volume was ok, even if the ending was a little overdramatic. Now reading v5 and Hina’s new pet. My Kuroneko and Ayase niitengos are on the way here! I can’t wait!!! They’ll both be here with me by Tuesday. Just in time for my bday :3

Webclap responses:

You know Micchi, while the images are loading on your blog and all, every single time I look at the current clap message, I keep thinking it says “Clap now or you’re getting punched!”
Is it just a hallucination, or does it mean something else?
On a random note I think I have such a toy somewhere, but it’s like, 1991 – 1993 old. by Amoirsp

Maybe it’s your innate M shining through if you like being punched more than pinched. I’ve played with those before and they’re kinda fun to annoy your friends with.

Ideological purity is a luxury of the wealthy, fortunate, and those of too much free time. It’s also silly, especially when Japan is still inside a major economic and social decline. Someone’s got their priorities mixed.
