Saimoe 2010 Winner
Congratulations to Azusa, winner of Saimoe 2010.
Azunyan rides considerable series and chara support to a 1516-1339 victory over perennial favorite Nagi. This was K-ON!!‘s year with Mio winning the Korean Best Moe and ISML as well. The vote total has risen this year and Azunyan’s greatest challenge might’ve been Mikoto in the block finals due to the threat of split votes with Mio. However, in the end, Azunyan followed in her senpai Yui’s footsteps and did something even better. Considering that she was my #1 from the very beginning of this wild 3 month long journey, this is a memory that I will treasure fondly.
Aside from that, what I’ll remember from this year’s tourney is: Hina crashing out in the first round, Hisa’s one vote victory over Uiharu, Higurashi and Umineko going 0-fer, Nadeko’s upset of Yui in round 2, the lack of split votes (they really should stop the 3-way block finals experiment), guessing who would be bus’ed, Mafuyu and Yamada’s surprising runs, Nanoha and Fate exiting Saimoe together (… for now?) and Saki choking again. Also, congrats to Nagi for becoming arguably the best perfoming character in Saimoe history.
Once again, I want to extend my thanks to frustra and Delta for the match posters, Aya Reiko for the charts, Seishi for updating the wiki and synchroom, all the Saimoe bloggers like kevo, ando as always, the folks over on the AS Saimoe 2010 thread for daily entertainment and excessive predictions and analysis, and all the anons. My one disappointment is that 2ch was lazy this year with posters and commemorative items. I hope they make a comeback next year.
Thanks for following Saimoe 2010. I hope you have passionately supported your favorite characters, discovered new characters and series and enjoyed the tournament as much as I have.
See you again next year!
