Best Eroge OPs of 2009

July 19, 2010 at 11:40 pm 24 comments

Featuring Micchi’s selection of the best eroge OPs from 2009! This was over six months in the making! (Actually, I just started it this weekend…) I tried to set aside my own personal preferences and choose based on song quality, visual arrangement and creativity. I also wanted to present a wide range of titles. My personal favorites were Oretsuba, Hoshimemo, Kittosumi, eden* and DCIIFL.

I’ve listed them by release date, as I don’t feel it’s quite right to order them. To spice things up a bit, I tried to summarize my feelings about each OP in three words. You can also view the entire playlist on Youtube. Enjoy!

Wow 30 ops. I don’t think I ever saw that many, or only saw that many.

I’d have to say Natsu no Ame appealed to me. :P The op wasn’t particularly standout but I love the “ambiance” the game/OP provided.

There were like 3 – 4 other game trial versions I played before that are not listed here, and I totally can’t remember the OP, at all.

    i love everything!!! >”<

  • 4. Aaeru  |  July 20, 2010 at 4:56 am

Thank you. I’m going to watch every single one.

  • 5. Raken  |  July 20, 2010 at 7:04 am

No place for Yosuga no Sora & Natsu no Ame OP? O__o

    • 6. Micchi  |  July 20, 2010 at 8:11 am

Yosuga no Sora came out in December 2008.

I liked Natsu no Ame‘s song, but the animation wasn’t too different from echo., Tropical Kiss and other ones using kinetic typography.

WIN quote : “In three words: Koko. Ga. SHOUBU.”

  • 8. Wrathkal  |  July 20, 2010 at 9:43 pm

Next time try doing Hgame EDs? :D I’d pick Majikoi’s Akanezora as one of them.

    • 9. Wrathkal  |  July 21, 2010 at 12:32 am

Oh yes, thanks for this, I’ve found quite a few new songs to add to my eroge song playlist. Just having difficulty finding the full version of Tropical Kiss & Mashiroiro Symphony’s OP.

  • 10. Newprimus  |  July 21, 2010 at 1:04 am

Great selection there. Koko. Ga. SHOUBU. Epic. (have the game too, lol)

  • 11. Newprimus  |  July 21, 2010 at 1:08 am

My favo of the list is probbably Mashiroiro Symphony’s.

  • 12. lonelyamure  |  July 21, 2010 at 3:43 am

I’d have to agree with Newprimus ^^;; Mashiroiro Symphony was a really heartwarming story =)

Otherwise I’d go with Da Capo II Fall In Love because I’m a huge fan of the Da Capo series, and they always do something great, including that title.

…though I’m pretty disappointed that I didn’t get to play one of the games in the list, eden*, because from what I heard, the game was a pain to install… but then again, I haven’t played most of these, so what am I saying XD

  • 13. warum  |  July 21, 2010 at 4:11 am

nitro+ Muramasa OP. So much is shown, but really, so little is known. :)

  • 14. Kitty  |  July 21, 2010 at 4:42 pm

Oh God, Majikoi! I wuv Wanko….<3~~ "Koko. ga. SHOUBU." Epic. I love Tim Leap Paradise, but then again, I love Front wing. Rika of Jiburiru is cute. Or so I heard. (I really do love Front Wing.) Sakakibara Yui is made for Eroge songs.

  • 15. eab1990  |  July 21, 2010 at 9:21 pm

“Eternal Recurrence in three words: Stars. Wishes. Mare.”

Camellia (Shoujo! Tsundere yo!) is indeed awesome as well. Bit surprised to see Time Leap Paradise, though it’s mainly because I prefer Yui Sakakibara’s covers in the game, rather than the OP of the game itself. Not that the OP is bad, just that her version of Little Busters! OP is godly.

  • 16. meganeshounen  |  July 22, 2010 at 5:16 pm

Why am not surprised to see Tenshin Ranman there? Haha…

Sure is also a lot of KOTOKO titles there. Not that they’re bad, no. And then there’s Sakakibara Yui~

  • 17. Algester  |  July 22, 2010 at 10:34 pm

of course i have no comment on here so far -_- i still have to wait how does saga planet’s new title will feel like @_@… but then again most of innocent grey OPs have been awe struckingly astounding

  • 18. lonelyamure  |  July 23, 2010 at 2:06 am

    Whoops… my bad! We were talking about VN OPs? I didn’t read the title carefully… D: … Well then! I’m going to take the spare time to watch all of them if that’s the case ^^;;

However, right now, I’m rooting for Mashiroiro and eden* right now. eden* is captivating. And then I lean maybe a little bit for Saga Planets’ Natsuyume Nagisa because I loved the art and aura. Light, Summer, happy, yeah yeah…

シンフォニック・ラブ – 橋本みゆき is addicting to listen to. I got that thing on my Zune, was listening to it like for probably around 3 – 5 days straight.

@Algester Kisaragi Gold Star, right? I already liked the art, so I stuck it in my sandbox XD Wondering how that VN’s going to be

Oh yeah. And then there’s some Yui Sakakibara… Ah, wonderful music, much love for her~ ^^

  • 19. Algester  |  July 23, 2010 at 9:04 am

with natsuyume nagisa being their most successful game ever many people will prolly have high hopes with kisaragi gold stars hahaha

  • 20. lonelyamure  |  July 23, 2010 at 6:12 pm

I have high hopes for it too ^^ The OP looked amazing. Music by KOTOKO was really upbeat, which I really liked~ I’m definitely going to give that game a download, since maybe I’ve already said it already, and like you said, Natsuyume Nagisa was really good~

  • 21. Fabricio  |  July 24, 2010 at 3:02 pm

Whoa, quite a selection you have there!
I had already seen the OPs from Flyable Heart (which I’m really loving!), Baldr Sky Dive1 and Tropical Kiss, and their musics are great. As for the others, I don’t know any… But will be watching their OPs very soon!
    Thanks for that, Micchi!!

  • 22. Micchi  |  July 24, 2010 at 7:41 pm

@Wrathkal: ED is a bit more difficult to find on Youtube and they usually give spoilers due to CGs being shown in the video. I do like quite a few of them though, especially if they’re slow-paced.

@lovelyamure: Ya, we’re talking about the OPs not the games XD There were quite a few that I took out since they’re cute, but other than that, not much different from most moe-ge OPs.

@Kitty: Agreed. Sakakibara Yui is a great singer and also a great seiyuu too!

@Algester: I’m curious as to how Kisaragi Gold Star will turn out too. Those chibis in the OP are cute!

    @Fabricio: Enjoy :3

  • 23. Reltair  |  July 27, 2010 at 7:41 pm

Whoa, so many good OPs! Thanks for the list!

    eden* all the way.

  • 24. Skew  |  July 27, 2010 at 9:44 pm

Hahaha Didn’t like Owarinaki Natsu, Towa Naru Shirabe OP? :x

Giggled a bit at Natsuyume’s “Bumpy. Jumpy. Summer.” and Majikoi’s “Koko. Ga. SHOUBU.” descriptions.
