November 2012 Eroge Releases

November 1, 2012 at 12:01 am 23 comments

It’s no secret that Windmill’s Witch’s Garden has been on the many people’s radar for some time with its innovative E-mote system which attempts to raise the level of realism in eroge. If you’d rather read an adult’s version of your favourite fairy tales, GALACTICA’s Gensou Douwa ALICETALE will do the job. Also, popular doujin circle Fuguriya makes the jump to pro as Yurinyurin and offers up the yuritastic Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o: Michael no Otome-tachi.

I find it a little scary when the games I look forward to most in a month are fandisks. The rest are full of games that stand out about as much as waldo does in a sea of people. Changing the names and hair colors doesn’t do much to change what lies beneath sadly. Not that I am asking for much, just stop trying to deceive me to cover up the flaws and insult your reader base and I’ll be happy even if they were games about magical younger sisters making wishes so everyone in the world could be happy.

Ping Pong Pantsu! ~Yugawara Gakuen Bishoujo☆Onsen Takkyuu-bu~

Company: アクトレス (ACTRESS)
Game site: ピンポンぱんつ! ~湯河原学園 美少女☆温泉卓球部~
Release date: November 22, 2012
Comments:
Takuya is the son of a famous ping pong player, but he doesn’t have any interest in the sport since he felt it was boring. One day while trailing a girl in a yukata in hopes of some upskirt, he ended up in what seemed to be a traditional Japanese inn. Actually, it was built for the onsen ping pong club. The club leader Kanako asked him if he wanted to join the club, but he didn’t have any interest in it… until he was lured by a promise that he could feel up her breasts if he beats her in a match. He vows to train hard so that he can one day go to the nationa… no, so he can have her voluptuous breasts in his hands!

I’m sure unpopular clubs would be able to get many more members if they implemented the same recruitment strategy. Not planning to play this at all, but the ridiculous shot selection reminds me of this.

When a game company decides that for their next title they would like to see their characters play high stakes ping pong with the ultimate goal being to molest the gravity defying orbs glued to the chest of a blow up doll given a speaker with which to vocalize her approval of your actions (You know, so its not illegal), I find it hard to take them seriously. I could almost buy a normal ping pong club, and could actually acknowledge it were it sans the raging hormone induced grabby hands motivation to drive the plot. As is though this game feels like they ran out of ideas for clubs and the means to bring the protagonist into said club so they gave up trying to rationalize it and decided to hand the reigns over to someones 15 year old kid while they went on a drunken tour of the closest red light district. Presumably this was only to test out the locations and viability of ping pong tables among the upstanding hotels and individuals that frequent such a pinnacle of family oriented tasteful indulgence. All this culminates in my point, being namely that were I involved in this social gathering I might be expected to come up with a game that could be better written by a series of monkeys furiously groping a keyboard with the utmost of pleasure. Then again that probably sums up most of my writing, so touche creators of Ping Pong Panties, you have achieved nirvana by being as lazy and bad at writing as I am yet getting paid for it, congratulations.

Tasogare no Saki ni Noboru Ashita -Applique FanDisc-

Company: あっぷりけ (Applique)
Game site: 黄昏の先にのぼる明日 -あっぷりけFanDisc-
Release date: November 22, 2012 Delayed to December 14, 2012
Comments:
This is the fandisk for Applique’s Miageta Sora ni Ochiteiku, Concerto Note and Tasogare no Sinsemilla. There are three after stories (one from each series), as well as three side stories and online mahjong.

It may just be my imagination, but it seems that the characters from Concerto Note look younger than before. If you’ve played any of the original games or plan to, you should consider checking this fandisk out (especially for Sakuya).

Hey look a fandisk for one of the precious few games that actually managed to make a little sister character appealing. Thanks to there being extra story for Sakuya from Tasogare no Sinsemilla along with a slow month I will end up playing this fandisk. I do however wish it was a game devoted solely to being a fandisk for Tasogare, but we can’t have everything I suppose.

Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas ~Futari no Gallery~

Company: ensemble
Game site: 乙女が紡ぐ恋のキャンバス ~二人のギャラリー~
Release date: November 22, 2012
Comments:
This is the fandisk to Otome ga Tsumugu Koi no Canvas. It features after/another stories for the top 5 in the character poll: Rena, Chiharu, Shizuku, Yuki and Akie.

This means that Anastasia-senpai doesn’t get a route. Note that Kazutaka is no longer writing the scenario, so I’m not sure how different it will be from the original. It’s not hard to write a fandisk though since you just need ample icharabu scenes. I know you’re all playing for Mizuki anyway.

Being one of the best written games of the past year or so I don’t approve much of having a different writer in charge of the fandisk, especially considering how delicately one would need to tread in order to make this not end up flipping the bird in the direction of the original game. Hopefully as it is a fandisk it won’t be too hard to manage  writing in a satisfactory manner, I would hate to see the characters from a good game ruined. Which brings me to a question, who was Yuki? Was that the extremely annoying puppy dog like character who did not fit the theme of the game, had the worst writing involved with her, and was only there to cater to the lolicon market and ends up being the sole reason I was unable to write a review for this game as I refused then and now to play her route? If so it is a shame Anastasia did not get an after story here, even though her route and character were not the greatest.

Maou to Odore! CODE:ARCANA

Company: catwalk
Game site: 魔王と踊れ! CODE:ARCANA
Release date: November 22, 2012
Comments:
New release date after being pushed back from October. This is the final game in catwalk’s Maou to Odore! RPG series. There once was a maou who led the demons into a war, but he was defeated, had his powers taken away and sealed. However, he proclaimed that he will return a thousand years later in another form. As the time passed, so too did the rumours of the maou’s resurrection. The prince of the small kingdom of Libfarl, Alec, was suspected of being the new maou and was thrown into prison. One day, his childhood friend and the princess Tiana came to visit him and that was the beginning of a dramatic plot which engulfed the continent.

This game boasts greater freedom in the RPG system and also makes it so that it’s not just all about leveling up and mashing buttons to clear the game. It’s composed of a series of missions, each of which have different requirements (i.e. defeating monsters or protecting items). The trials felt like they had potential, so this may be a good pickup if you’re in the mood for some adventuring.

One of those games where the people interested already know, and the people uninterested also already know, not my cup of tea though.

GEARS of DRAGOON ~Meikyuu no Uroboros~

Company: ninetail
Game site: GEARS of DRAGOON ~迷宮のウロボロス~
Release date: November 30, 2012 Delayed to January 25, 2013
Comments:
The dangerous new continent of Elysion on the southern sea is rich in resources and is also home to carbuncle, which can repel dragons and produce unlimited energy. In spite of the demons that roamed about, people flocked there in hopes of striking it rich. Ladius is an adventurer who came looking for the treasure with his friends in order to earn money to pay for his sick imouto’s treatment.

ninetail touts this game as a 3D dungeon RPG, but there’s nothing 3D about it aside from the backgrounds. Rather it’s similar to an old-school RPG with a customizable skill tree. Not sure if the system is similar to the Venus Blood series. It’s difficult to tell how the game balance is like until the game comes out (or a trial at least), although I’m leaning towards Code:Arcana instead.

While they never put much thought or effort into the gameplay of these games I wish they could at least put a tiny minuscule amount of work into making the story at least feel less cookie cutter bland. These are like playing a really bad flash game, with less motivation than Robot Unicorn Attack chasing after the dangling carrot of an H scene at the end. I’ll have to pass yet again.

Aete Mushi Suru Kimi to no Mirai ~Relay broadcast~

Company: ALcot ハニカム (ALcot Honey Comb)
Game site: あえて無視するキミとの未来 ~Relay broadcast~
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
Takurou can see the future. No matter if it’s in his dream or as an image that suddenly comes to his mind, it will certainly happen. However, having this special ability isn’t without its demerits. He knows how he will end up after graduation, as well as for the rest of his life. He cannot bring himself to be excited about anything since putting in effort is futile when the end result is already decided. One day, a peculiar transfer student Souka appeared before him, something that he had not seen in his future. She told him that his future is his own creation and it isn’t something that is decided from the beginning. Then, Takurou saw a future in which she became his girlfriend. Which future will be his? Is it already decided?

I can see the ending…! He will end up with the hopeless osananajimi (and obligatory Kiritani Hana character) Kei or 駄妹 #2 Nanagi who rivals Ai in bracon levels. Of course I know this because I’ll be raising their flags wherever possible. It’s a given that I’ll be playing a game by ALcot Honey Comb. I’ve always loved their simple stories and likable characters. Even just watching their character intro movie has made me excited for the game already. I need my Nanananagi! Hau~ omochikaeri~!

Did I ever mention I possess the ability to see the future as well? I see myself avoiding this game for the rest of my life after this post is done, maybe I will get a random idiot girl who is mysteriously immune to my gift to come out of nowhere spewing her hippie free will nonsense in the hopes of winning me over for some fan service H scenes. As the latest in Alcot Honeycomb’s list of half assed titles we have a guy who can see the future, only he can’t for at least one girl. Just like most of their past games there won’t be much of a story here for anyone that is not firmly in Micchi’s camp as far as such things are concerned. It is not so much that I mind the protagonist’s ability this time around as much as how they cheapen all potential for story with the way its presented and the characters are involved with it. By turning a cheap gimmick into an excuse to make an otherwise very standard eroge around it there is almost no value in anything here same characters who are pretty much a copy paste of the same designs we have seen dozens of times before.

Even if the story isn’t that great, at least their games are enjoyable to play. Their imoutos are top notch and get my seal of approval.

We all know by now all it takes is a flat chested loli little sister to get you interested, I find your argument far from compelling.

Aneimo Neo: Second Sisters

Company: bootUP!
Game site: あねいもNeo Second Sisters
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
This is a full remake of Puchi Pajamas’ (now bootUP!) 2004 title Aneimo, with different chars and a similar scenario. Shirou lives with his adopted mother Sakura and her daughters Mai and Nana ever since his parents’ deaths 7 years ago. At first he didn’t feel at ease being with a new family, but Sakura loved him as if he was her own son, so his worries were soon eased. After a few years, his adopted father died in a plane crash. Even with the loss of the central pillar of the family, Sakura continued to steadfastly support them. Now, he lives happily together with his non-blood related family.

One day, his aunt Sawako came to take custody of Shirou. She had wanted to take care of her dear sister’s son from the beginning, but she was only an university back then and faced strong opposition from her parents. Now that she had grown up and started up her own design studio, she wished for him to come live with her. Of course, he didn’t want to leave his current family, but when told that Sakura had been overexerting herself so that all three of them could attend university, he thought that it was best if he left the house to join Sawako.

When he told them of his decision, it was obvious that they didn’t want him to leave, especially the doting Nana who didn’t want to lose her precious oniichan. Sawako explained the situation and decided to give them until the start of summer vacation to make a final decision on her proposal, with the condition that she can also live with them temporarily. During that time, his relationship with his sisters gradually changed.

( ゚∀゚)o彡゜Oppai! Oppai! When everyone around him has boobs the size of melons, it’s natural that Shirou can’t help but stare at them. The game makes a point of making sure you know it too since they add the bouncing sound effect very often. Both Mai and Nana are cute, and Nana takes every opportunity to cling to him. For those who like milfs, it seems like Sakura and Sawako have H scenes. There’s not really much problems to overcome for the story, so I expect this to be full of icharabu.

Poor, poor eroge parents, always getting the short end of the stick so their offspring can be easily thrust into situations that lets them take advantage of relationships with childhood friends, relatives, or adopted families. While there is not much to the story at least they aren’t going out of their way to try and cover that up with some nonsensical plot elements or setting. Sure this is not the sort of game for anyone who appreciates a good story but at the same time there is nothing wrong with it as it caters to those who like the characters without being obnoxious about it. Another plus is that while the characters are excessively large in certain body proportions, at least you can tell they are not children, unlike the trend that most lean towards these days, making all your heroines look too young to ride the tea cup at a theme park.

Of course they’re not children. We all know they’re 18+.

And for once they actually look like it too.

Kono Sekai no Mukou de

Company: オレンジエール (ORANGE YELL)
Game site: この世界の向こうで
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
New release date after being pushed back from October. This is the debut title for ORANGE YELL. Asobu was burdened with a huge debt after his parents fled. Feeling the irrationality in the world and having lost his belief that one day something good will happen, he decided to end his life. On his way to do so, a shop called Koukaidou appeared before him. The owner Suzu told him her shop is located between life and death and offered him a happy future in exchange for a single request: to ‘save’ a girl Kazari who has an incurable disease and only has 3 months left to live.

Both the OP and the trial make me have high expectations for a good story, but I have some doubts as to if the writer Harukane Kakeru (SisKoiHaramiko) will be able to pull it off. If we’re lucky, we’ll get a touching game about the purpose of life. Kazari knows she doesn’t have long to live and accepts that reality, maybe Asobu will be able to learn something from her that brings hope and purpose to his life. I really hope the story ends up being OK since the art is likely not what you’re playing this game for. One thing I found a bit annoying was that you can’t change the volume for individual characters; Kazari’s voice seems to always be louder than the others.

Infamous start to a series made famous by Hayate where the protagonist is put in a bad position, gives up, and is saved by circumstances. The setup and setting here could have been better, there is no need to for the shop to appear, no need for Suzu to exist for this story. By choosing to include these elements into their story I am inclined to believe there won’t be much worth reading here, as the writer has chosen an easy setting manipulation over character development. I think the real question becomes will they try to go the fake tragedy route by killing her off in the end, or will they pull in some random love conquers all to save her with a happy end. Either way though I would suggest avoiding this game till others pave the way through this minefield for you.

Personally I’m hoping for a bittersweet end where Asobu learns to value his life more and accept everything that comes his way, whether it be good or bad.

Seems kind of likely but, also feels too easy to see coming. Not much point if you can see the ending from the beginning.

Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o: Michael no Otome-tachi

Company: ゆりんゆりん (YurinYurin)
Game site: その花びらにくちづけを ミカエルの乙女たち
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
This is the professional debut for doujin circle Fuguriya and its yuri Sono Hanabira series. It includes the past heroines, as well as adding a new couple to the mix. Risa is an earnest first year class rep at St. Michael Girl’s School who often quarrels with the problem child in the class, Miya. Christmas is fast approaching and it is almost time again for the voting for the best couple at the school. Risa thought that it didn’t concern her since she didn’t have a lover, but her classmates nominated her… with Miya!? They thought that they were always having fun and bringing smiles to everyone in class. They reluctantly go with it, but only as a pretend-couple. However, they’re up against four well-known couples at the school. Will they be able to keep pace with the true couples and make it through the Christmas and Valentine’s Day events together?

Surprised that it took so long for this popular yuri series to go pro. It’s like Strawberry Panic! all over again. Peko’s art is really cute and the story is likely to be just as sugary sweet. I really liked their short all-ages game Hanahira!, so I may try this out if I have time.

Same sex based romance stories always annoy me, be they yaoi or yuri as for the most part they spend most of the time emphasizing the fact that its yuri or yaoi instead of actually writing something worth reading. All these games amount to are either looking cute and molesting each other in different ways or looking cool and molesting each other in different ways.

Naisho no Naisho!

Company: Iris
Game site: ないしょのないしょ!
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
Satori is a children’s book author who has two very cheerful and innocent twin half-sisters Ren and Hazuki. Their mother, Karen, once home-stayed with his family, but after his father’s sudden death, she took them back to her native England to raise them herself. Now that she has to travel the world as part of her job as an interpreter, she intended to leave them in the care of their grandmother. However, the twins wanted to be with their oniichan! Living under the same roof as his pure imoutos who love him so dearly, he begins down a forbidden road under the pretense of love.

I’m not a lolicon, but the OP has got to be one of the cutest and most catchy ones I’ve heard. It reminds me of SCORE’s Crayon Tulip, which is also a similar type of game. The game uses a ‘Twins Meter’ system that determines if you follow Hazuki, Ren or the harem route. There’s also a black tooth at the bottom of the meter, which I assume is the purity gauge. I’m not a lolicon, but Fukumimi’s drawings are perfect for this game. C’mon everyone, let’s nai nai♪

You ARE a lolicon. Now that is out of the way, this game is as disturbing as crayon tulip and kud wafter. Seriously this is blatant pedophilia, and no amount of excuses about them being cute and you wanting it to be platonic would be enough to get anyone off the hook from playing this game. It is one thing if I dunno the protagonist was taking care of a sibling or working somewhere that involved kids with absolutely no inkling of sexual attraction to them. Games like these however hint at a disturbing acceptance of scarily low age limits.

I’m not a lolicon, I’m a siscon! (I do agree that these girls look dangerously young.)

You ARE a lolicon, you reject sisters that are well proportioned no matter how much they fall into your sister zone in favor of only those who are flat and small. These are so young that they would still be dangerously young in ten years.

Played the trial. I feel so guilty.

Witch’s Garden

Company: ういんどみるOasis (Windmill Oasis)
Game site: ウィッチズガーデン
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
This is Windmill Oasis’ 10th anniversary work, utilizing the E-mote sprite animation system. Yousuke came to the bustling tourist city of Kazashiro to attend the school there. The Western-style houses lining the streets and the townspeople’s attire give the city an exotic charm. To top it off, a ‘witch’ named Ayari will be living with him at the boarding house Oasis, which is owned by his aunt Yuuko. Later, he meets two other ‘witches’ Suzuno and Misumi, and reunites with his older sister-like childhood friend Ririko, who is a ‘knight’. Every day is full of exciting events and before long, they are brought again into a different world. Surely this is the world of love.

Moe and magic? What a wonderful combination! I’m very excited for the E-mote system! I know there’s more to the game than boin boin, but this just isn’t something you see often in eroge. Even though it doesn’t add to the story, it certainly doesn’t detract from the experience, so I hope that there’s more of it in the future. In particular, playing on dramatic mode is something that you should try at least once. The scenario is written by the Takashima Eiji and Hozumi Kei, who worked in tandem on Kamigakari Cross Heart!. Nothing much happened in the trial except for your standard introductions, but I wonder who Ayari really is considering the cliffhanger with Yuuko at the end. Windmill always makes each of the heroines charming in their own way, so there’s no question that this is at the top of my list this month. Of course another reason is because Suzuno’s imouto Akeno is voiced by Agumi Oto! The rest of the seiyuu are also well-known, from Natsuno Koori to Kawashima Rino, but I can’t resist playing a game that features Agumi Oto, even if it’s only in a subchar role.

More of the usual gimmicks used to try and hide lack of story and writing. There is only so much that some animations most of which are centered on DoA style chest motions can cover up for a game that otherwise reeks of sub par, well maybe just plain average these days. The inclusion of magic is obviously an attempt to spice up a game that without it would wind up looking about as unique as a blade of grass in a lawn. Take away the quasi animation that has been done years ago in much better games and what is left that could even make a false claim to be something more than just a copy paste of other games? Nothing, not a thing here is worth the time it would take to read unless for some reason these cookie cutter characters appeal to you enough to get over the lack of everything else. Maybe they will learn that it takes more than renaming “Animated breast physics” as E-mote to actually turn it into something new.

Kiss Bell

Company: 戯画 (GIGA)
Game site: キスベル
Release date: November 30, 2012 Delayed to December 14, 2012
Comments:
It was nearing the end of autumn when the volunteer Christmas club started up at Ekoda Gakuen. It has been a tradition that it will be run by the newly-appointed student council president. Ichio decided to help out with the club to make amends for causing trouble at the culture festival. He gradually got to know the other members better: the hardworking and reliable student council president Chiharu, her quiet best friend and class rep Yumi, carefree senpai Ayano who understands him well, and earnest kouhai and public morals committee member Eri who keeps a watchful eye on him at all times. How will their relationships end up considering they all joined the club voluntarily? Surely, their future will be one that is full of joy.

Almost thought this Hotchkiss all over again since it’s the same artist, but this time they have a new set of writers led by Morisaki Ryouto (Re:birth colony), so maybe it won’t be a Gigamine™? At the very least, Yumi and Eri are quite moe so it can’t be all bad. If not, we can look forward to the next one.

Giga’s track record with games not of the Baldr series seems to be worrisome at best, and downright hopeless at worst. While I tend to take each game on its own merits this is severely lacking in that department, something that I have a suspicion Giga will be unable to make up for with good writing. A shame they couldn’t at least come up with something better than a volunteer Christmas club to bring the protagonists harem of potential H scenes together in a way that is easy for him to access. Maybe there will be a pleasant surprise and this will end up being a good game, but then again it is equally likely the moon drops out of orbit and collides with the Earth tomorrow, so I wouldn’t get my hopes up.

Himitsu no Otome ~Boku ga Onna no Ko ni Natta Wake~

Company: エトワルズ (ETOILES)
Game site: ヒミツのオトメ ~ボクが女の子になった理由(わけ)~
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
New release date after being pushed back from October. Kazuki is the heir to the Kurachi dojo. One day while dressed up as a girl thanks to his imouto Satsuki, he ended up saving a hostage during a bank robbery. The girl he saved, Kanon, asked him to be her bodyguard. Moreover, she fully believed that he was a girl and he ended up transferring to a girl’s school to be with her. When the do-S Ageha sees through his disguise and Miyabi, who is allergic to guys, begins to suspect him as well, will he be able to protect the ‘natural troublemaker’ Kanon while keeping his true gender a secret at the school where romance is forbidden?

The lesson here is not to eat your imouto’s pudding without permission lest you will be subjected to a life of dressing up as a girl. But all’s well that ends well since we ended up meeting Kanon, who’s curious about everything and naturally gets herself into all sorts of trouble. It’s interesting that this is written by Harukane Kakeru, who also wrote ORANGE YELL’s Kono Sekai no Mukou de above. This one’s definitely more comedic. When you’re cross-dressing as a girl and are asked to cross-dress as a guy, would that still be cross-dressing?

Again a rather forcible start, I can’t imagine most siblings just going along with the demands of a little sister to dress up like a girl, which by the way is also completely nonsensical as a punishment. But let’s go with our lazy setup for the sake of getting our bruce lee wannabe protagonist into a girls school as a guard for some girl who seems to be completely not worth protecting. The rest of the game is going to be well… standard crossdressing fare, giving us the oh so played out hijinks that lead to his identity almost being discovered only to be avoided by a hair’s breadth. If you simply must have a transvestite protagonist this month I guess you will have to make do, otherwise there are much better games in this genre with better comedy and story to be had. And yes, crossdressing back as a boy counts as cross dressing, especially since it almost always happens at some point in these games.

Gensou Douwa ALICETALE

Company: GALACTICA
Game site: 幻奏童話 ALICETALE
Release date: October 26, 2012
Comments:
Ginta has a special ability which allows him to transform into a wolf. He doesn’t remember when he gained this ability, but since he is a righteous person, he uses his powers to help others. However, no matter what his intentions are, he still looks like a wolf. One day while saving a young girl in distress, he was suddenly attacked by three girls who had fairy tale powers known as ALICE. After they realized that he wasn’t a bad person, they decided to bring him to Grimm Academy and recruit him into their group which operates under the guise of the student council since they recognized that he also possessed the ability to detect trouble. However, it seems that there is someone out there that is trying to sabotage them. Thus begins the first page in a new fairy tale.

ALICETALE uses a turn-based battle system with 3D graphics. It’s quite simple as you just have to time your left and right mouse clicks. If you successfully do a few in a row, you’ll do a combo for more damage. Maxing your gauge will allow you to use a character-specific special attack. Support characters also boost your attack or defense.

The trial was surprisingly fun to play with lots of comedy. The game seems to be only loosely based on the fairy tale theme, but you get to be a big (not so) bad wolf! I was quite interested in Erika (Red Riding Hood) and Tomochika (Kaguya-hime), but they didn’t show up much. Rather it focused on Yuri (Cinderella), Yoshika (Thumbelina) and Fumi (Little Mermaid). While the battle system is pretty simple to understand, I hope that the later battles increase in difficulty.

While there is nothing wrong with using easily recognizable tie ins to older stories, I would appreciate them doing a better job of it. Would it really be so hard to alter the setting so that things feel more natural instead of them just trying to stuff in all the references they can and yet sort of ground it all in reality? Leaving things as they are makes the references to fairy tales seem entirely pointless other than as a lazy means to base characters and some story elements on. I don’t have a problem with the fairy tale side of things, nor even the battle system so much though I do think that is pretty stupid and a waste of time, but the main problem is just how poorly meshed together it all is. I enjoyed Gokudou no Hanayome because while silly and definitely over the top comedic most of the time, it retained a sense of grounding to the writing that kept the reader from cringing, at least for the most part. On the other hand Alicetale is using the same story just slightly modified, changing a few names and adding in an annoying speed bump of gameplay is not enough to justify how half assed this game is. Try harder next time and try not to use your previous story modified just enough that the teacher can’t say you copied even though its obvious and everyone already knows.

Kurano-kunchi no Futago Jijou

Company: CUBE
Game site: 倉野くんちのふたご事情
Release date: November 30, 2012
Comments:
The 8-person Kurano household that runs the cafe Apple Pie has three sets of twins. The oldest pair is the reliable Izumi and the sporty Mikoto, followed by Kazuya and his tsukkomi-type twin Tomoka. The youngest twins are the Yamato Nadeshiko-like Yae who’s great at housework, and the ‘so cute you can’t help but hug her’ Ema. They get along well even if their parents fight constantly. However, one summer day, their parents’ arguments had escalated to divorce! His mother gained custody of Kazuya and only one of the 5 daughters. Thus begins the struggle among his sisters to be with the brother that they all love so very much.

This is the third game by CUBE and for the third time, they have a new set of scenario writers. Kantoku is also gone, with the art being drawn by Kanekiyo Miwa (Natsu no Ame). What’s better than incest? Twincest, of course! This time there’s 3 pair of twins and naturally the youngest pair is squarely in my sights. I just wanna take Ema home, although I would love to have an oneechan like Mikoto. Actually, excuse my greediness, but I want them all. It’s best to treat this purely as a chara-based nukige and don’t have any expectations from the story, kinda like Koiimo. Harem route here I come~!!

While I am incredibly thankful the people responsible for the travesty that was Your Diary are not working on this one and we have a real artist again as well, the plot amounts to cube throwing in the towel it would seem. This feels almost like a game of desperation like someone jumping around and yelling “Look at me” for attention. Knowing there are plenty of people who are suckers for twins they threw this out there hoping for a guaranteed “Hit”. After starting out strong with Natsu no Ame it seems Cube is no longer a company worth considering after making the most pitiful excuse for an eroge I have ever seen in Your Diary, and now this. Unless they somehow manage to overcome the odds and recapture what made them a good company it seems they have fallen into the cesspool of nukige where story no longer matters. Then again after Your Diary that may be a step up for them, as even the worst nukige I have seen was better written and had better art than that pile of garbage.

I’m too interested in Witch’s Garden. Don’t think it will have much in terms of plot, but the heroines were adorable, and the Emote system is neat.
Also played the ALICETALE trial, but wasn’t very impressed with the cast. Particularly disliked Fumi.

I think most people have learnt Japanese. As for myself, I use translation tools to get my fix of eroge.

Yes, I learned enough Japanese so that I can play what I wished to play. It’s an investment that I think is worth the time.

Hey, I’d really like to play the 体験版 of ないしょのないしょ!
But when I try to play the game, an error with the following text shows up: This game is Japan only.
Do you guys live in Japan or are using a proxy? (Yes, everything on my computer’s is configured “Japan”)

For games under the Visual Arts umbrella, you need to be running Japanese windows. A quick way around this is to use a program like Vistalizator. Of course, you’ll have to be able to read Japanese then. There are other ways that involve modifying the .exe file, but it’s probably not worth it for trials.

I'm no longer making any eroge posts nor actively updating the upcoming releases. Thanks for following the blog through all these years and hope that it has been helpful. Please continue to support the eroge industry and love your imoutos!
