Umineko Episode 2 – Domestic Violence and Crying Men o_O

Nemuiwanko here! Merry Christmas! I hope everyone got something nice and are enjoying their time with family and friends. I’m back for more writing as finals had recently ended. I’m not quite done with Umineko Episode 2, but I’m very happy to learn that most of Episode 3 had been released as well! The translation project is going quite well and fast and it’s just amazing at how much they’re pumping out before the next episode at Comiket. Although off-topic but related to visual novels, the Fate Stay Night translation was also completed while I wasn’t paying attention x_x;; They’re releasing games faster than I can play. But now onto Umineko!
Gotta love Battler’s enthusiasm in the beginning! Click more for more of my random babble on this! Beware of SPOILERS.
Right from the beginning of the game we see a lot of development in Shannon’s character. Her relationship with Beatrice, and George is explored and we’re shown the events that took place before the Rokkenjima incident. Jessica also gets into the spotlight for awhile with her mini-concert and “date” with Kanon. Originally I didn’t know what to make of Kanon, but I have to say that I did like him a lot more after playing more of Episode 2. But the focus this time were on more of the servants, Rosa, and Maria.
Now onto the domestic violence part of my post! This time around we have more of a look at Maria and Rosa’s relationship. As Rosa didn’t die this time around, she becomes the new shotgun guardian of the Ushiromiya clan. But it’s very painful to see the interaction between Rosa and Maria so far. Look at the picture below for my feelings on this >_< I believe physical punishment is very wrong, and I cringe every time I see this. I’m somewhat spoiled about the ending to the episode, but I can’t wait to see how this ends for the both of them this episode.
Kinzo as usual crying for Beatrice’s attention. But it’s quite interesting to see that in one of the text dialogues that his defenses are well prepared this time. I’m wondering if he has any recollection of the previous Umineko episode? I would like to check back on the original Japanese text to verify this, but some of the translation does point to this. What I don’t fully understand is the banter between Beatrice and Battler at various points. Not sure how we’re supposed to interpret that or could it be something that resulted from the previous banquet.
Right near the end Battler starts to break apart as he cannot find something concrete to hold onto. All his theories were shot down by Beatrice and both Episode 2 Battler and meta Battler were breaking down! Could magic really be the true culprit here? He did such a good job on some of the the theories behind a few of the murders too. Magic is pretty hard to counter… especially for the readers when the only available information is the one Ryukish07 gives us. However, maybe all the information we really need is there.
Overall the new episode provides a lot more new information and an interesting new scenario to keep readers pondering about the mystery of Rokkenjima. I can’t wait to finish episode and see what else can be gleamed from it! But expect things to be more cruel this time around as our main characters suffer again in this tragic tale o_o; Hopefully I’ll do my Earthbound vs Mother 3 post soon xD;;

But Shannon does have nice pillows… And we usually call ‘limbo Battler’ as ‘meta Battler’ since he exists in the ‘meta world’.
By the way, Umineko anime character designs are out! I’ll post them tonight or tomorrow ^^
A few more days till Ep4!!!!
