Maple Leaf Collection Event

I’ve decided to write a little bit more about this event, along with a guide for it and details on the rewards. Note that these may be SPOILERS for some of you, so if you want to do the quest on your own, please do not read further. On that note, let the fun begin!

Note: This is based off the JP wiki page for the “Red Leaf Hunting” event (11/22/07~12/06/07). I have adapted this with my own findings from the NA event.

I guess the main thing most people want to know first is the reward that you get from the event. The quest is divided between male and female players. The reward you get is corresponding to your gender and the items that you collect. However, you may complete more collection books at your leisure. Please keep in mind the item attributes though.

Rewards

Males: Maple Suit
Females: Maple Dress

The item attributes are the same for both:

• 3×2 space
• 2 defence, 0 protection
• 5 durability
• Can be enchanted
• Can by dyed (top and middle only)
• Cannot be upgraded (even though it says 0/3 upgrades)
• Cannot be traded
• Cannot be sold via player shops
• Cannot be stored in pet inventory
• Can be deposited in bank and is transferrable between characters on the same account
• Can only be repaired at Fleta (98%)

You can only dye the top and middle parts of the dress, it seems.

Starting the Quest

To obtain the rewards, you must complete a quest. No matter which item you wish to make, you will have to grow a tree. It will take time and energy. Note that you should band together with friends to grow the tree together. This way the tree will grow faster and you will be able to collect leaves faster.

Maple Suit (male only): Collection Book “The Energy of the Tree”, 1 big maple leaf from each of the 5 trees

Maple Dress (female only): Collection Book “The Song of the Tree”, 1 big maple leaf from each of the 5 trees

Maple Leaf Fan: Collection Book “The Miracle of the Dead Tree”, 1 maple leaf from each of the 5 trees

Logging in during the event time, you will receive a quest from Duncan. After talking to him, you will receive “The Miracle of the Dead Tree” along with the collection book for the maple suit or dress, depending on your gender. Later, you can buy the three collection books from him (500g each for the suit/dress, 100g for the fan) if you wish to make more items. The collection books are untradeable, non vendable, cannot be placed in pet inventory and cannot be picked up by anyone but yourself.

Growing the Tree

To grow the tree, you will need bottled water. You can buy empty bottles from the general store in each town. You can fill up the empty bottle with water from the nearest river, lake or well. All you have to do is bring it to the place where you want to grow the tree and click it while having the bottled water in your inventory to give the water to the tree.

Growing a tree takes loving care and lots of time and patience. There are four stages of growth for the tree. The tree will need to be given 90 bottled waters before you can collect leaves from it.

• Stage 1 (Sprout) – 30 waters, 30 total
• Stage 2 (Small tree) – 10 waters, 40 total
• Stage 3 (Fully grown, green leaves) – 20 waters, 60 total
• Stage 4 (Fully grown, red leaves) – 30 waters, 90 total

I believe that there is no waiting time between waters, so you can just bring a ton of bottled waters to save yourself some trips. I would highly recommend using pets to hold some or transfer some if you have alternate characters in town. The best way is to do it with others! Share the load!

When the tree is fully grown, you can collect leaves from it by kicking it as you would with a normal tree. You will be able to get three things from it:

• Maple leaf – 1×1, no stack
• Big maple leaf (rare) – 2×2, no stack
• Maple fruit – 1×1, stacks up to 5, edible, no body change, +20 sp (+30 sp on Saturdays)

Both type of leaves are vendable and tradeable. So you may buy them from players if you wish to skip some steps. However, I would highly suggest you fully experience the quest instead of just buying it with money.

After it has reached the final stage, you will have 4 Erinn hours (6 minutes) before it reverts back to its beginning stage! Item collection pets may be helpful to you.

Tree Locations

There are sometimes more than one location to grow trees. Feel free to choose any one. Remember you need one from each area.
